EXHIBITION HALL, INSTITUTO CERVANTES

Lincoln Place, Dublin 2011

A2 Architects were invited by Instituto Cervantes to oversee the refurbishment of their ground floor exhibition hall at Lincoln Place, Dublin for a modest budget of five thousand euro. Three portable screens are made to double the exhibition capacity. A new oak floor is laid diagonally to energise the space. A grey paint finish is applied to the existing suspended ceiling in order to focus the eye on the white walls. The layout of existing lighting tracks is altered to give greater light spread. Translucent film is removed from windows to allow greater visibility of the space from Lincoln Place.
