Three-Classroom Extension to Gorey Community School, Co. Wexford

Highly Commended RIAI Irish Architecture Awards 2014

Three specialist classrooms (science, arts and home economics) surrounding a new graveled entrance courtyard are added to the front of Gorey Community School. Working within the prescribed Department of Education layouts these specialist rooms are grouped in a manner that allows their efficient connection to the existing school building. A pattern of fair-faced smooth / textured white cement blocks are set at different planes to give depth to external facades. The building is anticipated to require minimum external maintenance.
